Patmos

Patmos is most famed as the home of the Monastery of Saint John the Theologist. Here, in his Library, you can still view his handwritten scripts and you will also be shown the cave where he dedicated his life as a hermit, writing the Apocalypse. (Not the one with Marlon Brando)

The views from the Monastery you will certainly enjoy, being able to spy neighbouring Islands who share the vast Aegean Sea with Patmos.

Saint Raphael and Saint Nicolas (poor chaps) are said to have suffered a terrible fate at the hands of the Turks and you are able to visit their tombs here. If that does not satisfy your lust for the Macabre you can also visit the Monastery that is the home to the Tomb of Saint Irene (who didn’t have it any easier) and the Earthen cask in which she was burnt.
