The City of Rhodes (Rodos) was founded in 408 BC and is the island's capital. The Old Town of Rhodes has a medieval feel to it with its Castle and Fortress walls surrounding the old town from the fourteenth century when the Knights of St. John occupied Rhodes.
Rhodes Island has its fair share of good beaches, sunshine as well as history and culture. Whether you are looking for a lively European resort with modern facilities or a more quiet traditional resort Rhodes Island has both.
